Focus groups usually pay relatively well for the little bit of effort you put out. Most focus groups are conducted in a central location. You will get a phone call and be asked a number of questions to see if you're the right fit for the group. If you are, you are invited to attend the focus group session. You will be told how much session members will be paid. Usually you will see a presentation and then be asked your opinion of the product or idea. Sessions usually last about 2 hours, at the end of which you will be paid for your participation.
I have applied to the following Focus Groups and been contacted for sessions by the first company on the list. You, however, may fit more groups' demographics. Try to arrive at least 30 minutes early, (sooner, if you're coming from a distance). You never know what difficulties you may run into along your route!
